David Moyes shares update on West Ham star Vladimir Coufal

David Moyes has confirmed West Ham right-back Vladimir Coufal missed the Everton game because of an injury.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Scotsman said that the Czech Republic international defender has had an injection in his pubis after he felt some “discomfort” [Football.London].

He didn’t provide any update on when he will be back but suggested that he had been carrying this knock for a while.

He said: “Vladimir has taken an injection he had a bit of discomfort in his pubis. He has had an injection in there, he got the injury in the Man United cup game, and he has been carrying it for a few weeks.”

Unclear update from Moyes.

So, it seems as if Coufal is injured and has actually been injured for a long time, suggesting that he has been playing through the pain barrier for both club and country.

Of course, this doesn’t surprise us because Coufal has proven time and time again that he is willing to run through a brick wall for the Hammers.

However, Moyes didn’t provide any timescale for his return, and we now have to wonder if he will miss the Genk game on Thursday or the Tottenham Hotspur match on Sunday.

We would hope that the injection will help Coufal feature in at least one of those matches, as since he has arrived, he has been superb for the Irons.

However, it has to be said that against the Toffees, Moyes’ side didn’t miss Coufal and managed to see off what little attacking threat Everton had with relative ease.
