David Moyes promises Harry Maguire captaincy following fresh £30million West Ham bid
David Moyes has reportedly promised to make Harry Maguire the captain of West Ham United should he join from Manchester United, according to ExWHUemployee on The West Ham Way.
Writing on their Patreon (7 August), the Hammers insider claims that Maguire still needs convincing to make the move but that he knows it is in his best interest to move for more game time as he aims to make the England squad for the upcoming Euros this summer.
The West Ham Way also claim that the club have submitted a fresh £30million offer for the centre-back, who was the captain of Manchester United until he was replaced by Bruno Fernandes.

Smart
Harry Maguire is clearly a top target for the Hammers, and with their former captain Declan Rice no longer at the club, it seems sensible to offer it to a previous Premier League captain.
If the England star needs convincing about the move to East London, offering him the captaincy could be a shrewd move from Moyes who needs leadership in his squad after Rice’s departure.
It also shouldn’t ruffle any feathers in the squad as no one is having the captaincy stripped from them, leaving Maguire free to come straight into the side as a strong influence and role model.

If the Hammers can get the former Leicester City man for £30million, which was also reported by Sky Sports (7 August), it could prove intelligent business considering Maguire’s strength, aerial dominance and Premier League experience.
Maguire too will benefit from the increased game time. Last season, he completed just 759 minutes in the league, compared to 2515 minutes the season before, according to Transfermarkt.
With European games on West Ham’s fixture list for this season, Maguire could certainly remain at the forefront of a top English side with this move.
Having fallen out of favour at Erik ten Hag’s side, Maguire will definitely need to be playing regular club football if he wants Gareth Southgate to select him for the Euros, and with the Hammers seemingly the only club at the door for him, maybe he should go.
In other West Ham news, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has claimed the Hammers are looking to push for another Manchester United target.
