David Moyes position as manager at West Ham United ‘safe until summer’ – journalist

West Ham United manager David Moyes should be safe in his job until the summer after coming through a barrage of pressure at the London Stadium, according to Paul Brown.

Following that crucial victory and a 2-0 win over Derby County in the FA Cup, the pressure has now eased on the Scot, and journalist Brown believes the board will continue to back him until the end of the season.

“I think West Ham are going to give Moyes time to try and work that out,” he told GiveMeSport (Friday 3 February)

“Having survived when he was in a lot of trouble a couple of weeks ago, I think he will probably be okay until the summer.

“I can’t see West Ham going down this season and I don’t think the lack of signings will cost them terribly. When you look at the kind of players that teams bought around them, I don’t think there was a lot of real quality that came into the Premier League. A lot of those teams signed three or four players but they’re all slightly unknown.”

Pressure eased

Although West Ham have struggled throughout the course of the season, their recent form hints towards a team slowly building in confidence.

Yes, Everton were terrible during the 2-0 win, and yes, Frank Lampard has subsequently been sacked, but you can’t but feel that this was a result that could kickstart the Hammers into life.

If Moyes’ side are to progress away from the relegation zone, they will need to rely on Bowen and Michail Antonio for goals in the final third in the coming games after a string of untimely injuries.

Both Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings are absent for the home clash against Newcastle, so Moyes may need to alter his game plan to break down the stubborn Magpies’ defence.

A run of seven clean sheets in the Premier League certainly presents a tricky puzzle for Moyes to solve, and his side must remain patient if they wish to prise this back-four open.
