David Moyes outlines Red Bull vision for future of West Ham
David Moyes has detailed his desire to recruit young players for West Ham and mould the club in a similar way to that of the Red Bull group.
Big-money transfers have not gone according to plan in recent times with Sebastien Haller joining Felipe Anderson on the Irons scrapheap in January after just 18 months at the club.
Moyes thinks the club will have to be more savvy in the future with their transfer dealings and highlighted a model that has worked in numerous other countries.

He told the West Ham club website: “I don’t see our model being that we should go out and try and buy all the most-expensive players in the world, try and bring them here and that being the right way, because I don’t see that being a long-term future for West Ham.
“If West Ham wants a long-term future, my idea is that the Club has to build. I use the Red Bull model as an example because I see them buying in young players for the future.
“If every player you sign you expect to see in the first team, that can’t be the way. We need to try and recruit players who may come through in a year or two.”

Good times ahead
If something like this comes to fruition then we would gladly welcome it.
Clubs like RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg have enjoyed enormous success in recent years both domestically and on the European front with the backing of a supercompany.
Austrian side Salzburg played host to the talents of Erling Haaland before he made the switch to Borussia Dortmund and lit up the Bundesliga, as well as the likes of Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino who are both currently contracted to Premie League title holders Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Leipzig reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and are only trailing Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich by four points in the title race.
They brought in Timo Werner for relative peanuts from Stuttgart and he had a hugely successful spell at the club before making a mega-money move to Chelsea last summer.
This model of targeting younger players with a high resale value is exactly what we should be doing.
For too long we have become a destination for players to see out their playing days on high wages or for Europe’s cast-offs to come calling when they just fancy a few months in London.
We should be bringing in hungry players who will help drive on and it’s great to hear the vision Moyes has for us.
Let’s just hope the board give him the tools to do the job.
