David Moyes must get rid of exit-linked West Ham United flop Danny Ings after what he did v Bristol City
James Murray is a lifelong West Ham fan and a current season ticket holder in the Billy Bonds Stand. He’s seen some incredible talents – as well as several forgettable names – don the famous claret and blue shirt since his first game 25 years ago. He’s now putting his passion for West Ham into words with a regular fan view for West Ham Zone…
Enough is enough, it’s time for Danny Ings to leave West Ham during this transfer window.
It’s been an absolutely miserable past 12 months for the 31-year-old since he made the move from Aston Villa to the London Stadium in January 2023.
The English forward has registered just three goals and two assists in 40 appearances for the Hammers, with his confidence appearing to be at rock bottom.

It simply isn’t a good enough return for a player who was drafted in to try and solve the Irons’ striker issues, having failed to find the back of the net in 18 games this season.
He had a huge chance to get off the mark for the campaign after coming off the bench in the FA Cup clash against Bristol City when he skewed the ball wide of the post from point-blank range.
The Ings of old, the one who scored 22 Premier League goals for Southampton in the 2019/20 season, would have buried that opportunity.
But instead, he never looked like scoring as he snatched at the chance and missed his big moment to send West Ham through to the fourth round of the competition, with the scoreline ending 1-1 against the Championship side.
It was rather telling that David Moyes opted to bring on teenager Divin Mubama for Lucas Paqueta, who was forced off the field with an injury on 14 minutes, instead of the three-cap England international.
While the 19-year-old forward did little to aid his bid to earn more first-team minutes, it’s clear that the Hammers boss views him as being ahead of his more experienced teammate in the pecking order.

It’s at the point where I’m starting to feel sorry for him as he’s clearly going through one of the toughest spells of his career, but we can’t afford to suffer because of that.
He’s been continuously linked with a move away from East London over the past few months, but the club are believed to be cautious about allowing him to leave after Michail Antonio has been ruled out for potentially the next six weeks.
That means it’s probably going to take an enticing offer to come in for the forward or for us to find a replacement to allow him to move on.
But even if another suitable striker can’t be found, what are we really losing by letting him go? He’s shown nothing this season to suggest he’s ever going to cut it at the London Stadium.
Time’s up, Danny. I’m afraid you’ve got to go.
