David Moyes hands rare starts to Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet, four changes – West Ham United confirmed XI v Bristol City

David Moyes has made four changes to his starting lineup as West Ham United travel for a FA Cup third-round replay against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Tuesday (16 January).

Ahead of kick-off, the Hammers confirmed via their official Twitter account (16 January) that the injured Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are replaced by the rarely-seen Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet who have both been linked with exits this month while Said Benrahma replaces Pablo Fornals.

Moyes has also made the decision to bring in Aaron Cresswell who take his place at left-back, replacing midfielder Edson Alvarez with Emerson possibly taking up a wide role in attack at Ashton Gate.

Win or bust

West Ham United were incredibly disappointing as Bristol City earned a deserved 1-1 draw against the Hammers at London Stadium on Sunday (7 January) to force an FA Cup third-round replay.

After Moyes’ men went 1-0 up from Jarrod Bowen’s opener, there was the expectation around London Stadium that the Irons would go on to secure their place in the fourth round but disastrously failed to deliver.

West Ham United

Now, West Ham United face a needless replay when they should be ideally having a much-needed break following their domestic and European excursions over the last couple of months.

Moyes faces a selection crisis for the game having suffered damaging blows to Bowen, Paqueta and Michail Antonio, a development which could have damaging repercussions for their fourth-round place.

Bristol City enter this contest with all the confidence and encouragement needed to cause an upset and it is very much on the cards if West Ham United aren’t careful.

In other West Ham news, one exit-linked Hammers player has surely fuelled speculation of a possible transfer away after fresh new images emerge from Rush Green.
