David Moyes drops West Ham United transfer news as Jim White pokes for January reveal live on talkSPORT
David Moyes says West Ham United are unlikely to make any signings in the January transfer window unless injury forces their hand.
The Hammers signed nine players in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad ahead of a European charge following their Europa League semi-final run, but have struggled this season and sit just one point above the relegation zone.
However while appearing on talkSPORT (20 December) and speaking to host Jim White, Moyes shared that there are no plans to make more signings in January unless they’re forced to make a move through injury.

“Nah, I don’t think we will,” he shared.
“Because I have to say the board did really well by us and spent a good amount of money in the summer, we brought in nine new players, which is more than anybody would want to do, really.
“But we needed it because we’ve got a European campaign again and because of the amount of games we played in the year before. Even this season I think we’ve played more games than any other Premier League team at this stage of the season, so we needed to add those players.
“But January will probably be a no, unless we need something through injury or someone comes available.
“But, in truth, I don’t see us doing much business, no.”
Worried?
West Ham fans probably don’t know how to feel right now hearing these comments, because something clearly isn’t right at the moment.
The squad is severely underperforming and fresh arrivals would certainly help to get the level back to where it should be at the London Stadium, while also adding more options for David Moyes.
However there is no doubting that this team is far better than it has been showing and even the players that are currently at the club should be able to finish far higher up in the Premier League table.
If Moyes isn’t capable of getting a song out of this squad to move away from the bottom of the pile then he is not the right man for the job either, and someone else will be able to.
But expectations have clearly been altered for the window for fans, so don’t expect too much business and don’t expect much change off the pitch. Hopefully that doesn’t stagnate change on the pitch though, because it must be better.
