David Moyes doesn’t believe that the Europa League had anything to do with West Ham losing to Brentford on Sunday.
The Irons looked to have claimed a point when Jarrod Bowen slammed the ball home, but a late winner from Yoane Wissa sealed a win for the Bees.
After the match, the Scotsman was asked about the impact of the Europa League, but he doesn’t think that had anything to do with the defeat.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: “We’re only new to it.
“I don’t think it showed today; it wasn’t for lack of endeavour or the way we went about it; if anything, we got stronger in the game.
“It was more the quality and the finishing today, which let us down.”
Comprehensive stuff from Moyes.
Of the XI that started against Rapid Vienna on Thursday night, four of them started on Sunday, including Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma.
So, Moyes made enough changes to get an energetic display from his team, and the Irons did manage 18 shots with six on target, so it wasn’t as if the Bees shut them out.
Instead, they just failed to take the chances that came their way.
However, both of the games that the Hammers have lost this season have followed on from a Europa League match.

So, there could be something in it, but we would argue that we are too early into both the league and the European campaign to make a solid judgement.
Hopefully, it has just been a coincidence that the Irons have lost both of these games, and the Europa League doesn’t negatively impact their league campaign.
