David Moyes was denied a final farewell with the travelling West Ham fans as Manchester City fans stormed the pitch at the Etihad Stadium, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported via its website [19 May] that the Hammers manager was unable to say goodbye to the travelling support as Man City fans celebrated their fourth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday 19 May.

The club announced earlier this month that the Scot would be leaving his post as the Irons' manager upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the season, with the game against Man City marking his last in charge.

There is little the Hammers could have done for the squad at the Etihad Stadium, especially when it concerns the safety of the manager and players.

Of course, it is a sad ending to Moyes' tenure as West Ham manager, having been heavily criticised throughout the season and eventually being replaced by Julen Lopetegui.

But the fans did have the opportunity to thank the Scot for his achievements at the London Stadium as they faced Luton Town in their final home game of the season, with some suggesting his reception left a lot to be desired.

Moyes will definitely be remembered for that special night in Prague as the Hammers lifted the Europa Conference League trophy, the club's first European title in decades.

However, it seems his six years in charge have been slightly tarnished by the way he has been pushed out of the club and put under immense pressure throughout the campaign.

The away fans will have likely shown a much better reception for Moyes than what was experienced at the London Stadium, but that has been taken away by Man City's fans streaming onto the pitch.
