David Moyes ‘Delusional’ after what he said about West Ham United
Barry Glendenning has dealt a scathing review of David Moyes’ reaction to another West Ham defeat, following a 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday 17 February.
The Scot has come under extreme fire in recent weeks, with West Ham without a victory in eight matches in all competitions, conceding 11 goals and scoring none in their last three matches.
Calls for Moyes’ sacking have only grown louder since their last win, a 2-0 result against Arsenal in December, and Glendenning believes his most recent comments will only make it worse.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Sunday (18 February, 11:55am), he said: “As a second consecutive poor performance from West Ham, David Moyes does give some post-match interviews that just smacks of being delusional, and that was one of them.
“They weren’t at the races at all in this game, and there are West Ham fans who want him gone. With some justification, he points to his achievements as West Ham manager.
“He says, ‘I saved you from relegation twice, I got you to a European final, I won the Europa Conference League and we’re established as a top-half side’ – that’s all a fair comment.
“But I don’t think pointing this out for the second weekend in a row after another hiding, and this was a hiding, whatever the scoreline says.”
David Moyes heading towards sack at West Ham United?
There are certainly two sides to every story. Moyes has accomplished a lot in his second spell as West Ham manager and deserves respect from the fans. But the current frustration is evident and so it should be.
The Hammers have gone from Premier League top-four contenders and tipped for Europa League success to having no hope of achieving anything this season.
Since their last win against the Gunners in December, the London side have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship outlet Bristol City, drawn to Sheffield United and Bournemouth, and been thrashed by Manchester United and Arsenal without scoring.

Something drastic needs to change at London Stadium, with Moyes’ style of football being heavily criticised since the positive results have dried up, leaving West Ham stranded in ninth place in the Premier League, 13 points away from Aston Villa in fourth.
The injury to Lucas Paqueta has clearly had a significant impact, but no team should be so reliant on one player performing.
In other news, Neil Moxley has outlined “proof” that should sway whether David Moyes stays or goes at London Stadium.
