David Moyes delivers verdict on Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch ahead of West Ham United showdown

David Moyes is a big fan of how Jesse Marsch has implemented the “Red Bull model” at Leeds United ahead of West Ham United’s trip to Elland Road this week.

Leeds have completed a series of signings from Red Bull clubs since Marsch was hired as their manager with Austrian defender Maximilian Wober becoming the latest recruit, arriving from Salzburg on Tuesday (3 January).

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham’s Wednesday night (4 January) clash at Leeds, Moyes spoke about the Yorkshire club’s transfer policy but admitted that success might take time to set in.

“If you understand the Red Bull model, you understand Jesse Marsch. He’s done it very well, he’s implicated it very well. It’s something that might take a bit of time,” Moyes said, as quoted by Football London on Tuesday.

Hammers could follow suit

Marsch is indeed incorporating a refreshing model at Elland Road, acquiring players he knows well from his time with the Red Bull clubs.

Players such as Brendan Aaronson, Tyler Adams, and Rasmus Kristensen have successfully given the Whites a whole new vibrant and fresh look on the pitch, despite their current plight in the Premier League. And Moyes is indeed right in that, it will take a bit of time for these players to fully adapt to such a robust and testing division.

But more crucially, Marsch is adding players that he is confident will enhance his style in Yorkshire but more significantly, contribute to the future of the club, building a sustainable model that the Hammers could surely incorporate if they want to build for the future.

Certainly, Moyes doesn’t possess the same career journey as that of his opponent on Wednesday, but further enhancement and focus within their recruitment model in trying to sign players of a particular age group and providing them with the freedom and room to mature and develop could well mean the Hammers too could take on such a popular and well-renowned model towards a much more sustainable future in East London.
