David Moyes delivers positive injury update on West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen

David Moyes has suggested that he hopes Jarrod Bowen will return to the West Ham squad for the second leg.

Bowen picked up an Achilles injury against Liverpool in the previous game which the Hammers lost 1-0.

He has not travelled with the squad to face Sevilla in the first leg of the Europa League in Spain, but Moyes is confident that Bowen can return in the second leg, as he suggests the injury is “nothing serious”.

Moyes said, as quoted by Football London: “We hope Jarrod can make it for the second leg, we do not see it as a [long] injury, he has had three or four scans and there is nothing severe but we are hoping to find the cause and to get him back as he is important.”

Relief

The news will come as a huge relief for the Hammers fans.

Although Bowen will be heavily missed in the first leg, it’s good to hear that the club expect him to return within a short time.

The 25-year-old has been outstanding this season for the club, managing 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions.

He has taken his game to a whole new level this year where he scored seven goals in 11 games. It shows how important he is to the team.

In his absence, Moyes will pin hopes on the likes Nikola Vlasic and Pablo Fornals to deliver.

Manuel Lanzini has also been playing his best football this season, and he is another player who can make a difference for the Hammers.

The big boost, however, is the return of Declan Rice. The England midfielder has travelled with the squad, and he is in contention to start.

In other West Ham news, Europa League opponents Sevilla are also struggling with injuries as eight senior stars are ruled out.
