David Moyes delivers fitness update ahead of West Ham v Lyon

West Ham have received a massive boost today as Ben Johnson has returned to training ahead of Thursday’s clash.

The Hammers will face Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie at home, and ahead of the match David Moyes has delivered a positive fitness update.

Jarrod Bowen, who scored against Everton, in the last match hasn’t picked up any new injury while Manuel Lanzini has also returned to training, although he is suspended.

“Ben Johnson’s trained so I’m hoping he’ll be okay. Vladimir [Coufal] we’ve brought back and we’re still not totally convinced he’s 100 per cent, so he might just need a bit more time,” said Moyes, as quoted by whufc.com.

Massive boost

The return of Johnson is a massive boost for the club ahead of this big game.

The full-back picked up an injury whilst on international duty and missed the clash against the Toffees in the previous game.

Moyes has options in the form of Ryan Fredericks, but getting Johnson back is something else.

Vladimir Coufal was on the bench against Everton but Moyes has made it very clear that he is not completely fit. There’s no point using him in such a big game when he needs more time to get back his full sharpness.

West Ham

It will be interesting to see how the Hammers approach the game tomorrow.

The London Stadium was absolutely electrifying against Sevilla, and the Hammers must make the best use of the home advantage.

If the Hammers can take a sizeable lead in the first leg without conceding a goal, they will have a big chance of getting into the last four.
