David Moyes delighted with ‘Incredible’ West Ham defender v Leicester
David Moyes was delighted with West Ham United defender Vladimir Coufal after his debut against Leicester City.
The Czech Republic international arrived from Sparta Prague for £5million only a matter of days before the game.
Coufal started and played a massive role in helping the Irons to an impressive 3-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.
Moyes claimed it was “incredible” that Coufal was able to start after his quick turnaround to complete his move to the London Stadium.
“I thought Vladimír was brilliant,” he said, as quoted on West Ham’s official website.
“To come in, having played in Denmark in midweek… I was watching his Champions League results and everything going on, and I was saying I hope he comes through with no injuries because we had agreed to get him.
“He got on a plane first thing in the morning to get his medical done. To come in and then try to be ready to go into a game was incredible.”
Defensively, Coufal was superb in helping his side keep yet another impressive clean sheet against one of the Premier League’s best-attacking sides.
The 28-year-old made three tackles, three interceptions and a trio of clearances according to WhoScored – in the thick of the action.
Ryan Fredericks missed the game due to an injury, and he may be forced to settle for a place on the bench when the Premier League returns after such a brilliant start.
