David Moyes delighted after Rob Newman appointed as West Ham head of recruitment
West Ham United have appointed Rob Newman as the club’s head of recruitment on Friday.
Ahead of West Ham’s Premier League clash against Brentford, David Moyes has expressed his delight with the new appointment.
In the pre-match press conference, Moyes has said that Newman’s experience with Manchester City will be useful for the London club.

“Well, I’m pleased that we’ve got something to help our recruitment department. It’s been quite sparse over the years and we’re happy to get Rob in,” said Moyes, as quoted by Football.London.
“I have known Rob as a player, we played together in the early days and since then Rob has had his own career in management and for long periods now with Manchester City.”
Brilliant addition
The 57-year-old has joined from Manchester City where he spent more than a decade in the role of International Scouting and Recruitment Manager.
He was a former defender who made more than 600 senior appearances for the likes of Bristol City, Norwich City and Southend United. However, it is his outstanding scouting work at Man City that has been heavily noticed.
West Ham are heading in the right direction under Moyes, and the club will benefit from Newman’s appointment. He played a key role in managing the team of City’s scouts and helped the club find exciting young talents over the years.
The Hammers already have a solid academy set up, and they expect Newman to help Moyes in getting the right kind of player for the first-team squad.
Moyes has worked wonders with young talents during his time at Goodison Park, and it will be interesting to see what transfer strategy West Ham adopt going forward.
Meanwhile, West Ham will be looking to maintain their winning momentum when they take on Brentford on Sunday. The Hammers could be without Vladimir Coufal and Ryan Fredericks for this match.
In other West Ham news, Mark Noble has been spotted after a match embracing magic forward who quit Hammers in summer.
