David Moyes confirms West Ham high-earner has suffered yet another injury

West Ham United cruised through to the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory against Charlton.

The Irons made a number of changes, and two goals from Sebastien Haller and one from Felipe Anderson ensured the victory.

David Moyes wasn’t afraid to change his side around, but there was one notable absence at the London Stadium – Jack Wilshere.

Moyes confirmed after the commanding victory, that unsurprisingly, Wilshere had suffered yet another injury in training in the build-up.

“He rolled his ankle in training yesterday or he would have played tonight. Or certainly around the squad,” he told Football London.

“It’s the first time since lockdown he has had an injury so it was just a roll of his ankle.”

It has never worked out for Wilshere since he moved from Arsenal to sign a three-year deal at his boyhood club back in 2018.

His £100,000-a-week contract that he signed at that time is looking more and more ludicrous as he edges towards the end of it, and the Irons will know that they have got this one completely wrong.

Their transfer policy has been heavily criticised recently, and this signing is one of the worst the Premier League has seen for years.

Recent reports suggested that the Irons were in talks to mutually cancel Wilshere’s contract, although that hasn’t happened as of yet.

Wilshere is stealing a living as it stands, and Moyes will be eager to see the back of the England international at the end of this season.
