David Moyes confirms West Ham United have made bid for Lucas Paqueta

David Moyes has confirmed on Wednesday (24 August) that West Ham United have made a bid for Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

The Hammers boss has also shared his admiration for the player who can play in multiple positions, adding he has got a strong pedigree.

According to a report from The Daily Mail (24 August), the Hammers have submitted a £33.7m bid for the Brazilian.

The London outfit are in advanced talks over a move. The player’s agent is currently in London to sort out personal terms and other formalities, as reported by The Atheltic.

Moyes said, as quoted by Sky Sports News: “I can tell you we have bid for him. He is 23, 30 Brazil caps, he can play 10, 8, played as false nine for Brazil quite often. I think his pedigree is really good.”

Get it done

This has been a busy summer for the Hammers who have made a poor start to the 2022-23 campaign.

The Hammers are desperately looking to bolster their midfield, and it seems David Moyes is ready to spend big to sign a quality player, with the transfer deadline approaching.

Paqueta moved to Lyon from Serie A giants AC Milan in 2020. He has made 67 Ligue 1 appearances for the French club and scored 18 goals.

He is also an established member of Tite’s Brazil squad and he is expected to be part of the 2022 Qatar squad, with 33 caps and 7 goals.

It seems Moyes has been left impressed with his versatility. He will become the London club’s eighth senior signing of the summer, should he join.

Moyes, however, has got his age wrong. He is 24 and will turn 25 this week. Nevertheless, the important here is to get the deal done, and it looks like they are confident of securing his signing.
