David Moyes compensation package shared as he clings on to West Ham United job
David Moyes would be due a £7m compensation payment if West Ham decided to sack him as manager this month, according to 6foot2.
The Hammers have slipped into the relegation zone after defeat by Wolves last weekend, leaving the Scot clinging to his job as manager with a “high level” meeting planned for before the Everton game (17 January, 90min).
But it’s now been shared that sacking Moyes could cost the club £7m if they did it now, but that amount would drop with every month that passes due to his contract.
“David Moyes would be due a £7m pay off in compensation if sacked by West Ham this month, that amount reduces by £412,000 each further month he stays in post,” they wrote on their personal Twitter account (17 January).
Explains it
West Ham have notoriously been tight with their cash up until the recent summer transfer window, and the owners are known to not pull the trigger on a manager too quickly.
So hearing those figures, it’s absolutely no shock that they are trying to give him every opportunity possible to turn this around so they don’t have to pay him out.

Moyes’ current contract at the London Stadium is due to run until the summer of 2024 currently, but a defeat to Everton this weekend (21 January) could see that halted with the club in a relegation battle.
After spending £170m in the summer, the team have gone backwards now and the fans have completely turned on the manager after a 12 month period of extremely poor results.
But with such a hefty compensation fee mooted, it explains why the board as so tentative about sacking him and looking to bring someone else in – especially as there are no outstanding candidates for the role realistically.
