West Ham United club website hush David Moyes over London Stadium contract comments
David Moyes confirmed at his weekly press conference on Friday (23 February) that he has been offered a new contract by the club.
Moyes, due to be out of contract at the end of the campaign, will wait until the season is over before making a decision one way or another.
“I’ve had really good conversations with the owners, with David Sullivan and Karren Brady,” Moyes told reporters when asked about his future.
“There’s a contract there for me and I’m the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season.”
David Moyes speaks out on West Ham United future
While those quotes have been widely picked up, the club’s official website decided not to include them on their running blog [23 February], or indeed any further news articles.
Answers on the Europa League draw, Freiburg in general, next opponents Brentford and team news were all shared by the club.
Interestingly, the response to the question over his future, and the follow-up regarding why he is waiting so long, were not included anywhere.
Quite why this was the case is uncertain, but one suggestion is that the club are worried about the backlash from some sections of the fanbase.
West Ham fans split over David Moyes future
The vast majority of supporters are now firmly either in the ‘Moyes In’ or ‘Moyes Out’ camp, and their stance will not be changed at this point.
By not including any questions and answers on Moyes’ future, the club website is avoiding any sort of fallout either way.

Unfortunately, it is likely that this split will remain for a while longer yet. If Moyes is to stay on, then the contract should just be signed now.
This uncertainty is not helping anyone, and it will only make the situation worse if it drags on until the summer.
And if Moyes does put pen to paper, it may well be that you have to find that news via outlets other than the club’s website.
In other West Ham news, an update has been shared on Thomas Tuchel amid the latest goings on with Moyes.
