David Moyes claims senior West Ham player could leave club in next few days

Winston Reid could still leave West Ham on loan in the next few days, according to manager David Moyes.

A report from the New Zealand Herald last week suggested that the centre-back was on the cusp of a move to MLS outfit Nashville SC.

But his manager has suggested that deal has fallen through – although a switch stateside could still be on the cards.

Speaking in a press conference on Friday, as per Football.London, he said: “Winston is still here, he is still training, still working towards possibly going to America but we have not got that confirmed yet.

“The club he was due to go to is off but I think there might be somewhere else for him.”

Would this be a good move for Reid?

Obviously, we don’t have too many details on where Reid would be headed just yet, but any move to the MLS feels like a smart idea at this stage.

It’s been nearly two years since Reid last made a competitive appearance for the Hammers, and if he is ever to get back to a regular starting role in east London, first team football is absolutely imperative.

The MLS might not be the highest level in the world, but it’s a good, competitive standard, and there’s no reason why Reid shouldn’t be able to establish himself as a key player in any given team in the division.

If he can do that, and if he can then stay fit for a decent spell, perhaps we will be lucky enough to see the player who was registering a massive 8.1 clearances per game in the Premier League back in 2018, as per Whoscored.

A player of that magnitude would be a welcome addition to David Moyes’ squad.
