David Moyes breaks silence on future as West Ham United manager
David Moyes has spoken out on the speculation surrounding his future as manager of West Ham United amid recent rumours.
Reports have been rife about the Scot leaving the club at the end of the season, with David Sullivan said to have held talks with Ruben Amorim and Julien Lopetegui and other names listed as candidates also.
But Moyes, who has previously said the decision will be his after he was offered a new deal, spoke about his future during his pre-match press conference (26 April) and said no final decision has been made yet.
“Look the most important thing is things need to be right between me and the club,” he said.
“It’s not as if I’ve changed track, we’ve always said we’ll wait until the end of the season.”
David Moyes to leave West Ham United?
The club’s official line with the whole manager situation is obviously to try and keep things ticking over until the season is officially finished, but that is failing right now.
West Ham are holding talks publicly with potential replacements, while agents of the candidates are also talking about things which is something that can’t be controlled.
Moyes will surely know that they are planning to replace him, which will undoubtedly leave the Irons in a difficult position with just four games remaining of the season.
It seems certain that the manager will be leaving, and the chance to say goodbye on his own terms has seemingly been taken away from him too.
The best thing for everyone at this point would surely be for an official announcement to be made, and for the fans to be able to give him a proper send off for everything he’s done in his five years at the club.
