David Moyes blasted for ignoring £200m recruitment policy in West Ham United win v Fulham
The decision from West Ham manager David Moyes to leave out several recent signings for the clash against Fulham on Saturday (8 April) “does not reflect well” on the club’s recruitment policy, according to Claret and Hugh.
The boss picked his “most established and trusted players” in the key league encounter, which the Hammers won 1-0.
But in doing so, Moyes has come under fire for his decision to ignore the likes of recent recruits Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer in his starting XI.

“If we’re totally honest Moyes has struggled to get new signings up to speed for English football,” according to Claret and Hugh. “He often discusses how foreign players need long periods of adjustment but he seems to be a lone voice on the issue. Nobody else appears to struggle in the way he does and it was odd to hear him mention it again following the thrashing to Newcastle (who don’t seem to have a problem incorporating their new signings).
“In the interests of fairness it’s important to note that neither Gianluca Scamacca nor Lucas Paqueta were available for selection for Fulham. However Moyes did omit Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer, Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd, Emerson and Flynn Downes from the team.
“Ultimately Moyes was vindicated, but it does not reflect well on £200m of recruitment and West Ham’s rebuilding plan.”

Not important
Moyes, the West Ham board and the supporters will not care one bit about the recruitment policy in place at this moment in time, with all simply desperate for the Hammers to stay in the Premier League.
Recruitment, along with various other issues, can be set aside until the end of the campaign, with another campaign in the top flight solely dependent on results right now.
Moyes still has plenty of critics despite the victory over Fulham, and unfortunately for the manager it seems that not even Premier League safety, coupled with silverware in the Europa Conference League, will keep him in the job for another season.
It may seem harsh at first glance, but the Hammers are definitely underperforming, with the new faces in the squad definitely not living up to expectation under Moyes.
Moreover, with the long list of highly talented managers out there currently out of work, it seems that a Moyes replacement could arrive early on in the summer in order to get plenty of time with the squad ahead of the new campaign.
