David Moyes attends West Ham U16 training as Carlton Cole floods praise on Scot

Carlton Cole was full of commendation for David Moyes as the West Ham boss took part in coaching the club’s U16 side yesterday [Tuesday].

The ex-Irons striker is now an academy coach for the side he scored 68 goals for and took to Twitter to express his gratitude to Moyes for the gesture.

At the senior level, Moyes has done a sensational job at the London Stadium, leading the Hammers to their first European semi-final in 46 years and keeping them in contention for the top six in the Premier League.

“The U16’s were blessed with the gaffers presence at training today and they loved it,” BT Sport pundit Cole tweeted (19 April).

“He even got involved with the coaching which means so much to our lads who are fighting to make it as a pro and shows not just the players but the coaching staff humility and leadership.”

Great Example

This latest act is another in a long line of commendable ones that Moyes has done over the course of the season.

Obviously fans are ecstatic with the way the club has been performing on the pitch, but it is also incredibly satisfying to know the squad is in such generous hands off it.

Everything surrounding the club seems to be heading in an upwards direction at the moment, with the Irons youth sides excelling at all levels and Moyes’ direct involvement can only be a good thing as the next generation look to make their impact.

West Ham

Ben Johnson and Declan Rice are recent examples that there is a pathway for those coming out of the academy to establish themselves within the first team, and seeing Moyes come watch them personally must add to their drive to make that step up.

It all looks very rosy for West Ham at the moment and they look well set to lay the groundwork for long term success.
