David Moyes and West Ham United non-internationals will jet back to Rush Green this weekend

West Ham preparations for the Premier League’s resumption start this weekend, with all non-international players and David Moyes expected back in east London, according to Claret & Hugh.

The Hammers entered the winter break off the back of three consecutive Prmier League defeats and a dismal penalty shootout loss to Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup.

As a result, West Ham sit 16th in the table and David Moyes will need a much better second half of the season if he is to turn things around and keep his job at the London Stadium.

The Scot is expected to fly back from his holiday in Florida this weekend according to Claret & Hugh, with his non-international players also expected back at Rush Green for training ahead of the upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal on Boxing Day.

Between now and then, the Hammers will face Cambridge United and Fulham in friendly matches.

Back to it

There’s no hiding from an absolutely dismal first half of the season. After such a promising transfer window that saw the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca walk through the doors of the London Stadium, West Ham have massively disappointed.

To be in amongst a relegation scrap at the halfway point of the season is a really disappointing position for the Hammers to be in, but there’s certainly room for a comeback in the New Year.

West Ham

West Ham’s league position basically rules out any European qualification for next year, with the domestic focus being solely on survival now. However, the FA Cup and Europa Conference League represent huge chances for the Hammers to find success.

If survival can be assured in the Premier League, then West Ham and Moyes can turn their full attention towards Europe. A perfect record in the group stage saw the team top Group B in style, and the club now find themselves just a handful of matches away from a continental trophy.

If Moyes managed to lift European silverware this season then all doubt around his job would immediately disappear. That has to be the goal after the World Cup.
