David Moyes addresses speculation around exit-linked West Ham players

David Moyes has reiterated that West Ham will not be selling their star players this summer.

A number of West Ham players, most notably Declan Rice, have been linked with an exit over the past few months.

However, Moyes, who values some of these key names at the London Stadium at £100million, stated that they will not be leaving.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said, “We’ve got some players that we value at £100million and we won’t be selling them.

“That is the way it is, you are not going to get rid of your better players, you don’t do it and if you are it is going to be huge money.

“So from that point of view, I think the clubs are right to do so, but I think there are an awful lot of other clubs at the moment that are probably not able to pay that money and look to those levels.”

Nobody leaves

If we are to become a club that challenges for European places every season, then this is precisely the kind of attitude we should show to teams who want to sign some of our best players.

Often, when clubs overachieve, as we did last season, they see some of the bigger clubs come in for their players and they’re eventually compelled into letting go of them.

However, Moyes has been firm in his stance of some of our players since day one, and we’re delighted that he’s being backed by the board who would’ve otherwise looked to cash in to use the funds elsewhere.

Rice is a prime example of someone we should build this team around and for that we need signings, which have come at a premium this summer.

Hopefully, things speed up in the next couple of weeks and we see some more incomings through the door.

A striker and centre-back are likely to be Moyes’ priorities and hopefully, we get competent names who would help take us to that next level.
