David James believes West Ham signing Vlasic has filled the gap left by Lingard
David James believes that West Ham have replaced Jesse Lingard with Nikola Vlasic and have “filled the gap” left by the 28-year-old.
Speaking to Sky Sports News about the Hammers’ business, the former Premier League goalkeeper revealed his admiration for Vlasic. It seems as if he believes the former Everton man is the missing part of David Moyes’ side.
Certainly, Vlasic arrives with a good goalscoring record and a point to prove after his failed spell at Goodison Park [Sky Sports News, 31/08/2021 via Football.London].

This is what James said about Vlasic in full: “He’s just 23-years-old, and you would think West Ham are building towards the future with that one.
“I think David Moyes has got his West Ham side playing the same way they ended last season. Not literally game by game but finishing in Europe.
“He’s got the chance to use that as a springboard, and you have to replenish the squad and use that to his success. He is a goalscorer as well and can add a different threat going forward.
“Vlasic on a five-year deal has filled the gap left [by Lingard].”
Vlasic is another wise move.
The Hammers were linked almost relentlessly with a move for Lingard, but in the end, nothing came of it and instead, the Irons signed Vlasic.
They moved very quickly to secure this deal and deserve great credit for pouncing and bringing Vlasic in.

Given that he is just 23, he is certainly in the mould of some of David Moyes’ other signings while he has been at West Ham as he looks to build a young and hungry squad.
It remains to be seen how Vlasic will do, but we feel this is an exciting signing, and we look forward to seeing him strut his stuff for the Irons.
