David Gold sends message to West Ham talent after Premier League milestone

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice reached his 100th Premier League appearance in the 2-0 defeat against Newcastle on Saturday.

It wasn’t one to remember for the England international, who didn’t put in his best performance in the disappointing defeat.

Rice struggled with injuries in pre-season but featured twice for England before starting the Premier League opener with no problems.

Irons co-owner David Gold has delivered a message to Rice on his personal Twitter account, claiming that he is very proud of his prized asset.

“I would like to congratulate Declan on his 100th Premier League appearance for West Ham United – a magnificent achievement,” he wrote.

“I am very proud of him and he epitomises everything that this great football club stands for.”

Rice has been the one shining light for the Hammers in recent years, with not much else to celebrate in East London.

The 21-year-old has been constantly linked with Chelsea throughout the summer, although it looks likely that he will stick around.

The truth is though, is that West Ham don’t have much money to spend on reinforcements, and if an £80million offer came in, they wouldn’t be able to say no.

We saw the disbelief after the sale of Grady Diangana, but Gold would be targeted if they were to let Rice leave, regardless of the price.

Here’s to 200 Hammers appearances, fingers crossed.
