Darren Randolph likely to leave in January

Darren Randolph is the likeliest of West Ham players to leave in January, according to Football London’s Tom Clark.

He has fallen to third in the pecking order at the London Stadium post Alphonse Areola’s arrival this summer.

The 34-year-old has yet to play a single minute of senior first-team football, which could see him leave for playing minutes.

Clark suggests that a move to the Championship would be favourable for the keeper as well as the club he signs for, with the option being on the table.

Best for all parties

The Republic of Ireland international is not suddenly going to find his way back into David Moyes’ plans at West Ham.

He left the club in 2017, only to be back last summer to serve as a backup, but instead of being third choice, he may feel that he deserves first-team minutes.

34 may be old for outfielders, but for keepers it’s not the worst age ever. Randolph could find himself become first-choice for a Championship club and if he guides them to promotion, he would be back in the Premier League.

Randolph is far from finished and deserves more playing time than he is likely to get under Moyes.

He had been labelled “brilliant” a few years ago by Slaven Bilic [Sports Joe], and while he does not get to showcase his brilliance week in and week out anymore, he still retains the ability and know how to make sharp saves.

As for the Hammers, losing him would not be a major blow and they would happily get his wages off their payroll.

Hopefully, that money can then be used to sign another striker in January.
