Darren Bent reacts as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointment mooted at West Ham United
Darren Bent has reacted after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was mooted as a potential replacement for Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United.
The Hammers boss has come under pressure after a poor start to his tenure in East London, with some supporters calling for a change in the London Stadium dugout already.
Although the former Real Madrid manager is not expected to lose his job in the near future, talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein has questioned whether or not Solskjaer would be a suitable replacement for the Irons.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (27 September, 18:15) Goldstein said: “If West Ham get rid of Lopetegui, is West Ham too big for Solskjaer?”
Bent replied: “What is too big? We’re not happy with David Moyes, get him out. We’re not happy with Lopetegui, get him out.
“[Graham] Potter would be a good fit, he’s a good coach. He must be waiting for something.”
Will West Ham sack Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium?
If West Ham make the bold and surprising call to part ways with Lopetegui after only a matter of months, Hammers supporters will be expecting a big name to arrive at the London Stadium to solve their problems.
Although Solskjaer’s last job saw him take charge of Manchester United, it feels unlikely that Hammers fans would be jumping for joy if it was the Norwegian who arrived in East London to take over the reins.
Yes, he did do a reasonable job at Old Trafford, but the rest of his managerial career has left an awful lot to be desired and he has also been without a club for more than two seasons having left United in the 2021/22 campaign.

As Bent suggests, on the face of it Potter would be a much better fit if the Irons were to sack Lopetegui.
The Englishman is a more forward-thinking coach who has impressed at a similar level with Brighton and would get the best out of the attack-minded players already at the London Stadium.
For now, though, it seems as though Lopetegui will be given the chance to turn things around.
