Darren Bent stunned by what he’s been told about Jarrod Bowen at West Ham United
Darren Bent was left astonished after being told that Jarrod Bowen has only scored three league goals for West Ham this season.
The Hammers are just five points above the Premier League relegation zone after 11 matches, and with a minus-six goal difference, hitting the back of the net looks to be another problem for Julen Lopetegui to solve.
With 16 goals in the league last term, it should not be a surprise to see Bowen back at the top of the list, but only three at this point in the season is not good enough for any of the players.
After Andy Goldstein revealed the statistic live on talkSPORT [22 November, 4:39pm], Bent replied: “That’s nuts.”
“Julen Lopetegui does deserve a lot of the blame, but the likes of Kudus should have more. With someone of his quality, that’s not good enough.”
Julen Lopetegui has new problem to solve at West Ham United
The main issue under David Moyes was the lack of attacking excitement within the squad, with the Scot often using a defensive style of play and shutting the opposition out to win three points.
While Lopetegui was expected to bring a new attacking style of play to the London Stadium this summer, performances have been far from ideal so far and fans are becoming impatient.
Kudus notched 14 goals in all competitions last season while Tomas Soucek also popped up in the final third with 10 goals, but the goals have been lacking during the current campaign.

In addition to the lack of goals, the defence has been leaking goals against the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, and even Nottingham Forest in a 3-0 loss.
Things need to change drastically at both ends of the pitch, and with Bowen wearing the captain’s armband this term, he must take this challenge by the scruff of the neck and lead the Hammers up the table.
