Danny Murphy delivers promising West Ham ‘relegation’ prediction after 2-0 win over Everton
Danny Murphy believes West Ham won’t be embroiled in a relegation battle this season, stating that they’ve got “too many good players” following their crucial 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Everton at the London Stadium.
In what’s been a testing period for both David Moyes and the club, the Hammers desperately needed a confidence boost to pick themselves up after a disappointing campaign.
Saturday’s [21 January] win over the Toffees may just be their turning point, grabbing a much-needed three points and lifting themselves out of the relegation places with their first win in seven games.

And Murphy believes this win be the “catalyst” for the Hammers to turn their season around.
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day [21 January, 14m: 31s], the former Premier League midfielder said:
“I think for me, the squad is, it’s always been a decent squad we saw what they did last season.
“I think this will catapult them now into a more confident place, I don’t think they’re gonna be in a relegation battle, I think they’ve got too many good players.”
Crucial
It’s been a testing and difficult week for Moyes after much noise and rumours were circulating surrounding his immediate future at the club.
The former Everton manager will have been eternally grateful to Jarrod Bowen for his two-goal heroics because they might well have kept Moyes in the job.

Saturday’s win over Everton simply couldn’t be more crucial and it’s now time the club uses this result as a springboard to push on for the remainder of the campaign.
This is a talented bunch Moyes has at his disposal, and they really should not be where they are in the league, but that’s the beauty and nightmare of the Premier League. You simply can’t take any game for granted in such an incredibly competitive division.
Whether Moyes lasts the 2022/23 stretch remains uncertain, but his future as West Ham boss is very much in his hands.
