Danny Murphy: Declan Rice should not sign new West Ham contract
Danny Murphy has urged Declan Rice to not sign a new contract with West Ham United in the near future.
The Irons skipper has been reportedly unhappy at the asking price of the club this summer, with numerous clubs interested in major moves.
Murphy believes there is no need to sign a new deal at the London Stadium, with three years already remaining on his current contract.

Speaking on talkSPORT, as shared on Twitter, Murphy issued his plea to Rice ahead of the interest growing.
“He will want to play at a higher level,” he said.
“Unfortunately, the reality is West Ham aren’t going to compete for the top honours anytime in our lifetime.
“He will move, it’s just when and who too, and I would be saying to him personally right now, if you’ve got three years left, don’t sign.”
Not what we want to hear.
Although we are all waiting for the impending exit of Rice in the years to come, it still isn’t what we want to hear.
Murphy knows nothing about the situation, but having moved to Liverpool in his past, he knows the draw of bigger clubs.
Rice is our best and most valuable player by a country mile, and keeping him to build the team around will be critical to any success.
Is £100million too much to ask for? We don’t think so.
Our skipper may think that, but if it wasn’t for COVID-19, many of the big clubs would pay that without even thinking.
