Danny Dyer shares Jarrod Bowen England verdict after West Ham United decision

Danny Dyer has reacted after it was confirmed that West Ham star Jarrod Bowen made Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.

The 27-year-old has slowly been growing into a more important role with the Three Lions due to his incredible form at the London Stadium in recent seasons.

With England confirming their 26-man squad for Euro 2024 in Germany this summer, Bowen joins former Hammers captain Declan Rice as the team prepares for the tournament.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Thursday (6 June, 5:10pm), Dyer said: “I’m over the moon. The kid deserves it. He’s worked so hard. I thought he had a lovely 90 minutes [against Bosnia & Herzegovina]. There’s been a bit of debate about game time.

“Should’ve nicked a goal at the end but Konsa got in the way. They’re good pals, those two. I’m so happy. He’s such a shy, humble kid, but when he gets on the pitch, he’s brave and never shies away.

“He’s up there with Saka. Why wouldn’t you start him? I think they’ve both got the same attributes. Bowen’s got a great pass on him, he runs with the ball, the ball sticks to him, he loves taking players on and he’s got a great shot. He’s got everything.”

Danny Dyer reacts as West Ham United ace Jarrod Bowen makes England squad

Of course, with Dyer’s family ties to Bowen, he is bound to have a little bit of bias with his opinions. However, there is no doubt over the player’s inclusion in Southgate’s squad.

The 28-year-old has been sensational for the Irons in recent seasons, netting double digits in the Premier League in two of his last three campaigns and becoming an integral part of the squad.

Even with the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus in the squad, Bowen is still the main man in the team and will have been a no-brainer for the Three Lions squad.

The likelihood is that Saka and Phil Foden start on opposite flanks for England, with Harry Kane through the middle, but the West Ham man has proven he is capable of playing anywhere across the front three.

Due to Michail Antonio’s injuries this season, David Moyes chose to utilise Bowen in the position, unlocking more potential for the former Hull City winger.

There were few fans who doubted Bowen’s inclusion in the England squad for this summer, but now that it is officially confirmed, the Irons star can begin packing for the plane.
