Cundy and O’Hara shellshocked at ‘incredible’ new West Ham United manager claim

Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara were left stunned after a West Ham United fan claimed he wants David Moyes to return to the club.

Julen Lopetegui is under immense pressure at the London Stadium after a string of poor results, with Fabrizio Romano providing an update on the board’s stance on Lopetegui via his daily briefing (26 September).

The Hammers were beaten 5-1 by Liverpool in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Anfield on Wednesday (25 September). After full-time, a supporter called into talkSPORT suggesting that he wants Lopetegui sacked and replaced by Moyes.

Cundy and O’Hara were left shocked, the former saying (via talkSPORT YouTube, 26 September), “I mean that’s incredible.

“There can’t be too many West Ham listening to that and agreeing with it.

O’Hara added, “Moyes must be sat on holiday, right, with a massive pint, sitting there laughing.”

West Ham told to replace Julen Lopetegui with David Moyes?

It has no doubt been a poor start for Lopetegui. However, in fairness to the West Ham boss, he has had some very tricky fixtures.

The Hammers have already had to play Manchester City, Aston Villa, Chelsea and travel to Liverpool. However, that does not excuse some of the results and performances.

For the first time in the club’s history, they have lost their first three home league matches. Therefore, it is difficult to ignore those alarming statistics.

However, calls for him to already be sacked are incredibly premature. The 58-year-old is trying to implement a completely different style at the London Stadium and gel together a host of summer signings.

As a result, time and patience are needed.

And calls for him to be replaced by Moyes are beyond ridiculous and reactionary. It wasn’t long ago that fans were hounding Moyes and calling for his head.

David Moyes will be remembered fondly by West Ham supporters.

Therefore, to already want him back is not a good look for this particular West Ham supporter.
