Crystal Palace update emerges for West Ham United in Jack Clarke transfer race in £20m development
Crystal Palace and Brentford have joined West Ham United in the race to sign Jack Clarke during the January transfer window, according to The Evening Standard.
The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (10 January) that at least five clubs are interested in signing the Sunderland winger this month, with Palace, Brentford and the Irons all considering a bid for the 23-year-old.
Sunderland are keen to keep Clarke at the Stadium of Light for the second half of the campaign, but a bid upwards of £20million would have to be seriously considered after they rejected a £15million from Burnley during the summer.

David Moyes is keen to add to his forward line after Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio all picked up new injuries while Mohammed Kudus joined up with Ghana for the African Cup of Nations.
The race is on
West Ham need new options at the London Stadium and they need them quickly following the latest injury crisis in Moyes’ squad. They cannot afford to let targets slip through their fingers, especially at the gain of other Premier League sides.
While Palace and Brentford may both be fighting at the other end of the Premier League table to the Hammers, they are rivals still in this league when it comes to recruiting and West Ham cannot be been beaten to Clarke’s signature this month.

The Hammers did spend heavily in the summer, but they also made plenty of money through some big player sales. They should have the financial resources to outspend both Palace and Brentford to be able to win the race for the Sunderland winger’s signature.
Hopefully, the reports of interest elsewhere will spur the Irons into action this January and they will finally get their transfer window up and running. This could be a race for supporters to keep their eye on in the next few weeks.
In other West Ham news, Alex Crook has suggested that the Irons could complete a swap deal to bring Max Kilman to East London
