Crystal Palace confident of winning race for West Ham United target Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Crystal Palace are “hopeful” they will win the race to sign West Ham United transfer target Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United, according to 90min.

The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano (20 December) had revealed that the Hammers were in talks with United over a possible loan move, with the Red Devils eager to move the out-of-favour right back out of Old Trafford.

However, 90min have since suggested (21 December) the Eagles now fancy their chances of winning the race to bring their former player back to Selhurst Park, initially on a loan deal.

Wolves have also been linked with the Manchester United full-back as Julen Lopetegui looks to improve his squad after his arrival at Molineux.

Not needed

A fully fit and firing Wan-Bissaka is an exciting addition for any side, with the 25-year-old one of the toughest tackling and defensively resolute right backs in the Premier League. His style of play is something which would certainly interest David Moyes.

However, considering his current fitness levels, lack of game time and the options the Scot has at his disposal, a move for the Manchester United man just doesn’t make sense at this moment in time. Vladimir Coufal’s future has been an area of contention, but if the Czech Republic international can play his way back into form, he’s more than capable of being a first-choice option for the Irons.

Furthermore, the Hammers also have Thilo Kehrer and Ben Johnson who can also fill in at right back, as well as Harrison Ashby, although the youngster’s London Stadium future is certainly in doubt at the moment. Unless a player leaves, it’s unlikely the West Ham will look to hijack Palace’s reported deal for the 25-year-old.
