Crysencio Summerville reason for choosing West Ham transfer over Chelsea and Liverpool shared
West Ham United’s offer of regular game-time saw Crysencio Summerville sign for the club ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea, according to The Athletic.
Roshane Thomas reported on 30 October that amid a heated transfer race to sign the 23-year-old Dutchman from Leeds United this summer, playing time was the “key” for Summerville’s decision.
Chelsea and Liverpool both made enquiries at Elland Road over a transfer for Summerville, but the Hammers’ £25million bid won out after activating the Championship Player of the Year’s exit clause.
Crysencio Summerville finally relishing West Ham game-time
When looking at the wide attacking options of Chelsea, Liverpool and the Hammers, choosing the latter in order to maximise your Premier League game-time does seem to make the most sense.
However, that’s not quite been the case for the Dutchman in East London thus far, making just one Premier League start and a further eight substitute appearances since signing in early August.

That could all be about to change though after Summerville’s huge impact in the Irons’ 2-1 win over Manchester United, a result which could have saved Julen Lopetegui’s job while ending Erik ten Hag’s.
Coming off the bench for the out-of-form Lucas Paqueta at half-time, Summerville scored his side’s opening goal and provided the dynamic running in behind which the Hammers have lacked this season.
Regular Premier League starts in the wake of this display are now surely in the offing, and the ever-confident Dutchman will be keen to grasp such an opportunity with both hands.
In other West Ham news, a spokesman for David Sullivan has revealed the main reason why the Irons didn’t hire Ruben Amorim.
