Crysencio Summerville injury latest at West Ham after knock in FA Cup vs Brentford

West Ham are hoping for the best after worrying scenes involving Crysencio Summerville.

The winger was heavily involved once again as the Hammers beat Brentford on penalties in the FA Cup on Monday, setting up a quarter-final clash at the London Stadium against Leeds.

Summerville looked to have picked up an injury in extra time, with the Dutchman hobbling for the remainder of the match, as Nuno Espirito Santo had made all of his substitutions.

The 24-year-old has shone in recent months, becoming a talismanic figure as West Ham look to avoid relegation.

The Irons will now be waiting for some good news as the Hammers prepare to take on Manchester City and Aston Villa before the international break.

Positive news could be on horizon for West Ham and Crysencio Summerville

Nuno’s side are now just a win away from Wembley, having secured their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Though in the aftermath of the clash against Brentford, supporters will be eagely awaiting news regarding Summerville’s fitness.

Jacob Steinberg took to social media to share what he noticed about the knock, writing: “Just have to hope the Summerville injury isn’t serious. Looked like it was just a knock.”

The Athletic correspondent Roshane Thomas also said at the time: “Credit to Summerville for pushing through the pain barrier

“The winger is playing with a knock, and Nuno has used all his substitutions. A member of the medical team seemed to be massaging Summerville’s left calf as he waited to re-enter the field.”

Summerville has contributed to nine goals in 2026, and has put West Ham’s survival bid on his back in recent weeks – scoring a crucial goal in the recent 1-0 win against Fulham.

Nuno’s Irons sit just inside the relegation zone, only below Nottingham Forest on goal difference, before they take on Manchester City on Saturday.

West Ham will need Crysencio Summerville for survival push

As a team, West Ham have transformed since the turn of the year, with the Hammers looking exactly as you would expect for a Nuno side.

Summerville has taken on a talismanic role throughout this, with the east London club now on the cusp of breaking out of the drop zone.

Joining the club from Leeds in 2024, the Dutchman had a slow start to life in East London, but has continued to grow in importance throughout.

With blistering pace and the ability to eat up ground with the ball at his feet, Summerville is a pure momentum shifter who is turning into a real difference maker when it comes to his numbers.

If West Ham are to go on and secure their Premier League status, the winger will undoubtedly be at the heart of it, should his fitness not be an issue.
