Crysencio Summerville ‘in crushing new injury blow’ as West Ham timeline emerges

Crysencio Summerville has suffered an injury setback at West Ham United and could be sidelined for a further two months, according to Sean Whetstone.

Whetstone, reporting via the West Ham Football X account (4 February), shared that Summerville may not return to action until early April after suffering another setback following a thigh injury.

The injury wasn’t thought to be serious at first, but with the Dutchman now set to miss eight weeks, it is a huge blow for the Hammers.

Given what will be a lengthy spell on the sideline, it may even longer until Summerville is back to full fitness, with Graham Potter now in need of finding a solution.

West Ham could rue their transfer business after Summerville update

While the Hammers were successful in their attempts to sign Evan Ferguson, they appeared keen on signing further attacking reinforcements though none materialised in the end.

That inability to secure further quality in the final third may now be placed in the spotlight amid the news of another injury to Summerville, leaving West Ham with very few options in the wide areas.

The return of Jarrod Bowen provides somewhat of a cushion, but Potter has very few players at his disposal with similar attributes to Summerville.

However, Potter is now going to have to find a way to remedy his absence and ensure that the Hammers can keep progressing on the pitch and steer well clear of any potential relegation fears.

As things stand, the Hammers sit 10 points clear of the bottom three consisting of Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich, all three of whom still have fixtures to play against the Irons.
