Craig Dawson set for Wolves medical as West Ham United agree multi-million sale
West Ham defender Craig Dawson is set to undergo his Wolves medical after a £3.3m deal was agreed upon between the two clubs, according to Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
The Midlands outfit had been keen to land Dawson last summer, with the player himself being keen to move back further north to be closer to his family, but a deal failed to materialise.
Now, the defender will get his wish for a move away from East London after a deal was thrashed out this week for a fee of over £3m with Dawson’s Hammers contract having just six months left to run.
And Taylor took to his personal Twitter [20 January] feed, to provide an update on the player’s move. He tweeted: “Lots of movement at Wolves: Craig Dawson set for medical after £3.3m fee agreed with West Ham…”
Huge blow
In what’s been a rather testing and difficult season for the Hammers, currently sitting in the drop zone and in desperate need of some quality and leadership to get them out of this rut, losing Dawson to fellow strugglers down at the bottom is a huge blow to their ambitions.
It will be interesting to see who Moyes turns to now, apart from Declan Rice, as one of the real leaders in a side certainly struggling to gel together so far this campaign.

Dawson, who arrived at the London Stadium from Watford in 2021, following a loan spell, has become a hugely influential figure in the Hammers dressing room and on the pitch too, making 87 appearances and scoring an impressive nine goals in all competitions.
It’s totally understandable, the player’s wishes to move closer to his family in the Midlands, it’s just a huge shame it had to be a rival in Wolves.
Moyes’ defence will be further depleted without the 32-year-old veteran, which means the Hammers will of course need a major revamp if they are to move forward beyond this season.
West Ham’s loss is certainly Wolverhampton Wanderers’ almighty gain. What a signing for Julen Lopetegui.
