Craig Dawson playing through pain barrier, should play vs Leicester – report

Craig Dawson is expected to play for West Ham against Leicester this weekend, despite Claret & Hugh claiming that he is playing through injury.

Dawson has been a regular in the centre of defence for the Hammers this season since Angelo Ogbonna suffered a season-ending knee injury, partnering Kurt Zouma or Issa Diop.

But Claret & Hugh are reporting that the former Watford defender has been playing through the pain barrier for weeks and will continue to do so for now.

West Ham

They quoted a source from within the club as saying, “He is a quite extraordinary professional.

“He’s been playing through injury for weeks but shrugs it off and always makes himself available for games. We should all be very proud of Daws.”

Needed

With the Hammers under increasing pressure to drop Kurt Zouma from their squad following his recent troubles, they need Dawson more than ever.

He has been in relatively good form this season, winning countless aerial duels and providing excellent cover for David Moyes’ side.

West Ham

The Irons got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over his former side in midweek and with a big game against Leicester at the weekend, he will need to be at his best to cope with the likes of James Maddison.

After failing to sign anyone in the January transfer window, Moyes is short of options at the back with or without Zouma.

Should the French defender get dropped and Dawson not be able to play through injury again then the boss would likely be forced to move Declan Rice into defence or call up someone from the academy to slot in.
