Craig Dawson could leave West Ham United in cut-price deal as John Egan transfer eyed
West Ham United could now green light a cut-price exit for Craig Dawson in the January transfer window, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist has reported that the door could be opened with a £12million bid now being prepared to sign Sheffield United enforcer John Egan.
Aston Villa and Wolves were both interested, but it is suggested that only the latter could take another look, although the price will be cheaper than the previously suggested £7million package.

Writing on his official Patreon page, Nixon dropped the domino chain of transfers which could happen in the upcoming January transfer window.
“West Ham boss David Moyes wants Sheffield United centre half John Egan – and will make a £12 million move for him in the next window,” he wrote. “If Hammers land Egan it would open the door for unsettled Craig Dawson to move after the collapse of a switch.
“The centre half was a target for Aston Villa as we revealed but they found a cheaper alternative. Wolves will take a look at Dawson again after they missed out.
“West Ham wanted £5 million plus £2 million extras for Dawson but that will drop now as he nears the end of his contract.”

Perfect.
This makes sense for all parties right now.
With Egan potentially arriving as our main target in January, getting Dawson off the wage bill and also handing him that chance of more football is the least we could do.
Nayef Aguerd should have returned by then, and then adding another new signing in Thilo Kehrer only increases our options past Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.
There have been injury issues and that is a worry, but if Egan made it five options to David Moyes, that should certainly be more than enough.
The Irishman has been very reliable in recent years and has been an ever-present figure for the Blades, so he could eye that big jump to the London Stadium.
Sheffield United are currently sitting at the top of the Championship though so losing one of their key men in a promotion push may not be on their mind.
It’s time for West Ham United to change their minds, Dawson may have to leave for that.
