West Ham United are looking to the French top-flight to bolster the ranks of their defensive and forward lines this summer, according to Paul Brown.

The Daily Star journalist shared that the Irons have good contacts there who are constantly in the ears of GSBK about potential new signings.

David Moyes is also said to be eyeing several players who currently ply their trade across the channel, with Thilo Kehrer, Abdou Diallo, and Ibrahima Sissoko believed to be in his sights, as reported by Give Me Sport.

Speaking to Give Me Sport in the last few hours, Brown gave an update on West Ham’s plans to consolidate their squad before deadline day further.

“They quite like the French market,” he said. “They have good contacts there and agents are constantly in the owners’ ears recommending players.

“I think they will look and try to do something if they can but, really, the priority for West Ham at the moment is that defender and they do still need a striker as well.”

Smart move by West Ham

Most West Ham fans would agree that there is still work to be done with regards to incomings, owing to their disappointing start to the Premier League campaign.

Consecutive defeats to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have left David Moyes’ side in 19th place, conceding three goals and being yet to register a single effort.

Tightening up at both ends of the pitch should undoubtedly be a priority for the Scotsman as the Irons ramp up the ante in domestic and European competition.

Tapping the French market could be an ideal solution, given the success stories from the Hammers utilizing this particular transfer strategy in recent years, such as Dimitri Payet, brought in from Marseille back in 2015.

Names such as Kehrer, Diallo, and Sissoko could add some much-needed depth to the West Ham squad, creating healthy competition for places as the season progresses.

Should West Ham United continue to target players from the French top-flight, these deals may be ones to watch as the window draws to a close.
