Confirmed: West Ham United youngster Nathan Trott exits London Stadium on loan

West Ham United goalkeeper Nathan Trott has joined Danish side Vejle BK for a second loan spell, the club have confirmed.

The 24-year-old spent the 2022/23 season at Vejle making 25 appearances in total for the Danish side.

The latest loan spell will take the goalkeeper to the end of his contract at the London Stadium after coming through the ranks at Rush Green.

Exit on cards

A permanent exit is now very much on the cards for the West Ham shot-stopper. With his contract up in the summer of 2024, it’s highly unlikely he will be offered fresh terms – considering his age.

He’s still relatively young for a goalkeeper, but if he was to make an impact in the first team, it would have happened by now. Another loan move guarantees him first-team football. A 24-year-old cannot be stuck on the bench twiddling his thumbs.

The Hammers are well-set in goal with Alphonse Areola well-placed to replace Łukasz Fabiański in the Hammers’ net. The Frenchman was impressive during the Conference League run and is due a consistent run of Premier League games under David Moyes.

However, if Fabianski departs, another goalkeeper will be needed at the London Stadium. Behind the Frenchman, there’s not much in the way of backup.

Hopefully, West Ham’s transfer plans become a lot clearer when Declan Rice’s future is sorted out. The sooner a large fee arrives the better for everyone concerned.

Rice has been a remarkable servant but is due the chance to test himself against the best in the world at the top level of European football.
