Confirmed: West Ham complete loan signing of Craig Dawson

West Ham United have completed the loan signing of Watford defender Craig Dawson on Monday evening.

The Irons have confirmed the experienced defender will spend the season at the London Stadium, adding to their ranks.

It was added that the Hammers have the option to make his move to east London permanent at the end of this season.

Moyes has shared his verdict on the signing, claiming he will be a fantastic addition both on and off the pitch for West Ham.

“I’m delighted to welcome Craig to the Club,” he said. “He is a fantastic professional with proven quality and experience in the Premier League.

“It’s no secret that we have been trying to add more quality to the squad in defensive positions, not only for the longer-term but also to ensure we are well protected right now, and the opportunity bring in Craig on loan was an addition that will make the group stronger through this period.”

Dawson can feature both in the heart of defence, and at right-back as David Moyes brings in the reinforcements he so desperately wanted.

West Ham were desperate to bring in a couple of defenders, and with Vladimir Coufal as well, they have completed that goal.

Making the deal for Dawson temporary will mean that the Irons can launch their big-money move for Said Benrahma, although there are fears that could have collapsed.

Finishing the window with both Dawson and Benrahma would be the perfect end to this summer – one down, one to go.
