Chris Sutton shares why West Ham United fans will still be ‘unhappy’ despite win v Arsenal

Chris Sutton believes there will still be a section of the West Ham fans that won’t appreciate the job David Moyes has done despite the victory over Arsenal on Thursday (28 December).

The pundit tweeted on Thursday that the Hammers boss has never received the “credit he deserves” after his side beat the Gunners 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Despite “schooling” the North London club’s boss Mikel Arteta, Sutton believes he will still be fielding calls on BBC Radio Five Live’s 606 phone-in show from Irons supporters who are “unhappy” with the Scotsman.

“Even after tonight and David Moyes schooling Mikel Arteta we will probably get calls into 606 on Saturday from a certain section of West Ham fans who are unhappy with the job David Moyes is doing,” said Sutton. “Moyes never has received the credit he deserves.”

Due credit

There is no doubt that Moyes definitely does deserve credit for helping mastermind the victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

There are very few people who gave West Ham a chance of going to North London and picking up anything, let alone all three points that put us back into the top six in the Premier League.

It was a solid defensive display from the Hammers without our usual centre-back pairing of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd as we managed to keep Arsenal at bay throughout the contest.

It was also a clinical performance from the Irons as Tomas Soucek pounced on just about our only opportunity in the first half, with Konstantinos Mavropanos heading home against his former side in the second half.

It now appears as though Moyes will be handed an extension to his deal, which runs out at the end of the season, and the results suggest you can’t really argue that he doesn’t deserve it.
