Chris Sutton shares ‘doesn’t care’ David Moyes verdict at West Ham United live on BBC

West Ham United manager David Moyes “doesn’t care” about possession, only about winning, according to Chris Sutton.

The Hammers have made an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, winning three times and drawing once.

They currently sit joint-second in the table on 10 points, two points behind leaders Manchester City, who have won all four of their matches.

“David Moyes doesn’t care about possession, he cares about winning,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club (4 September).

“Look at the way they set up at Brighton, they had 22% possession. He’s not bothered about that, it’s about finding a way to win, and I think there is a lot to be admired about that.

“He understands what his team’s strengths and weaknesses are, and sets up accordingly.”

Successful start

Much to the surprise of many, Moyes has guided West Ham to a superb start to the new Premier League campaign.

And the man in the dugout deserves a lot of credit for doing so, having seemingly come under constant pressure in recent months. A lot of that pressure was a result of the club’s lack of business for the initial part of the summer transfer window.

But that was slowly but surely rectified with the signatures of top talents James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez, Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

They are all certain to play key roles in claret and blue in the coming months, both in the Premier League and in the Europa League.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, however, their early momentum has been disrupted by the current international break.

A handful of West Ham stars will be in action for their respective countries in the coming days, with Moyes crossing his fingers that they all return free from injury or fatigue.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have a new hero as stunning Premier League statistics have emerged after the recent win against Luton Town.
