Chris Sutton predicts West Ham United v Liverpool in Premier League

Chris Sutton has cast his prediction for West Ham United against Liverpool in the eagerly awaited Premier League clash on Wednesday 26 April, as featured in his Daily Mail column [Page 68, 25 April].

He has opted for an entertaining 2-2 score draw between the sides, in a game with plenty of attacking talent on show from both clubs, as well as defensive deficiencies.

The Hammers will go into this fixture full of confidence following the forward strides made in the league and in Europe, in recent games.

West Ham

Sutton has opted for the Irons to record a sixth consecutive unbeaten game.

“A four-goal thriller at the London Stadium anyone?”, he stated.

“The pressure has eased on West Ham. They’re set to escape relegation and can give it a go against a Liverpool side who have shown us their vulnerabilities this season”

Nothing to lose

After a very productive week for West Ham, a further win would add to the vital lead over the drop zone as well as boosting the feel-good factor, in what could still be a successful end to the season.

The Hammers have nothing to lose just now, and following the excellent rout of Bournemouth at the weekend, why can’t they get another result against an inconsistent opponent in Jurgen Klopp’s side?

At a minimum, David Moyes will be looking to maintain the six-point gap with the relegation places, but that looks set to increase in the games to come as the dark clouds appear to shift for the Scotsman.

His position at the club remains subject to speculation in terms of next season but he is doing a fine job at present, which will only add to his growing case for securing another year at the helm in east London.
