Chris Sutton predicts West Ham United v Brentford, details desperation at London Stadium

West Ham will be “desperate” to get back to winning ways when they face Brentford in the Premier League on Friday (30 December).

The Hammers are heading into the fixture on the back of four straight defeats in the Premier League, and Chris Sutton predicts a 1-1 draw for this game on BBC Sport.

David Moyes is under a lot of pressure at the moment to keep his job at the moment, as the Hammers find themselves 17th in the league despite spending over £150m in the summer on new signings.

West Ham

“West Ham’s defeat by Arsenal means they have lost five of their past six league games, but they have been underachieving pretty much all season,” wrote Sutton for BBC Sport.

“I keep expecting them to get results and to kick on, but it hasn’t happened yet and you start to wonder if they are ever going to click and go on a run.

“The Hammers are slipping closer to the relegation zone and they will be desperate for a win but this time, I’m not going to say they will get it.

“Brentford are going to be really awkward opponents as Tottenham found out last time out.

“I correctly backed the Bees to get a point from that game and I think they will get another draw here.”

Gloom

Sutton has echoed the sentiments of every West Ham fan at the moment.

We all keep hoping that the Hammers will find the momentum and they will shift the gears but it hasn’t happened yet.

After what David Moyes has done in the past few years, and the amount of money they have spent in bolstering the squad, it has to be said that the club is underachieving at the moment.

West Ham

It’s not that difficult to see the problems for the Hammers – they are struggling to score goals, and they are conceding goals easily.

The Hammers signed a top-quality striker in the summer in Gianluca Scamacca and bolstered their defence as well, but Moyes is struggling to find the right balance.

Lucas Paqueta is a quality midfielder but he has looked fish out of water at West Ham so far, and there is hardly any creativity in the side.

It’s going to be a tough game, but let’s hope the Hammers can get the job done.
