Chris Sutton gives verdict on West Ham star Jarrod Bowen making debut for England
Former Celtic forward Chris Sutton heaps praise on West Ham United’s striker Jarrod Bowen for his performance on his debut for England.
The 25-year-old played his first game for the national team in the UEFA Nations League fixture against Hungary on Saturday.
Sutton, while talking on BBC Sound, stated that Bowen has shown that he is more suited to play alongside Harry Kane compared to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

“He [Bowen] had a fantastic performance for England on his debut,” he said. “I feel he is better suited to play with Kane than Saka on the right-wing.
“Saka is more of a dribbler. If you ask me about my World Cup team selection, I would start Bowen over Saka on the right-hand side as he combines with Kane effectively.”

Jarrod Bowen was one of the standout players for West Ham in the recently concluded campaign as the London club reached the Europa League semi-finals and secured the seventh position in the Premier League.
In the crucial moments for the Hammers, the 25-year-old always stood and became the difference maker for David Moyes’ side.
He scored 12 goals and made 12 assists across 36 appearances in the Premier League, contributing to 40% of the overall West Ham goals in the league competition.
The winger averaged 2.2 shots per game and also completed 1.4 dribbles per game, making him one of the most exciting players domestically.
It remains to be seen how Gareth Southgate makes him part of the attack that comprises the likes of Harry Kane, Bakayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford.
However, if he gets games in the starting line-up regularly, you can expect some big performances from him based on what he has achieved at the club level.
